My date poured Russian dressing on his chinese food

Did he pour it on your Gen Tso? Is he making you eat it?

Sigh...she said "Chinese takeout" and General Tso is quintessential Chinese takeout. The point was not about the culinary heritage of the food, but the novelty of pairing it with Russian dressing. And OP was good natured about it.

I'm curious, why was that your response?

Yum yum sauce. It’s AMAZING. This was the first thing that came to mind when I read the OP.

I don’t think OP is wringing her hands over cross-cultural contamination. If just sounds like a very weird combination. But if you feel better now, good for you?

But honestly? I think it is great that he knows his own mind/tastes and is comfortable being himself around you. Don't hold it against him! We all have our quirks, and this is as benign as it gets.

I think you are weirder because you ran into the bathroom to get relationship advice from a bunch of strangers in DCUM!

Figure out what is important in a future life partner (Hint: this is not high in that list!!)

Why are you quoting me, not OP, with this?

And also, she actually didn't ask for advice. She recounted a funny situation. And I, for one, appreciated it.

Divorce him

Set up boundaries, OP.

Lawyer up

Next time try fish maw or lightly fried tuna and scrutinize his condimentation as an indicator of acceptance by DCUM

Is Russian dressing really a sub for yum yum sauce. I haven't had russian dressing in years. It is sweet, right? I think General Tso's is sweet enough so I think the russian dressing thing is a bit weird. I like yum yum sauce but think it sounds kind of gross on general tso's.

My dad does this with EVERYTHING. Russian dressing (or Catalina) on literally everything lol.

What is the context? If you were at his house and you ordered take out and he got the dressing out the frig and added it, weird but no big deal.

If you were at your house and he brought the dressing with his, end it! That is nuts.
