Teen always late to class

Anonymous
I don't have any suggestions, but I sympathize. ADHD runs in my family. My ADHD dad was never on time for anything. He was always running late and never managed his time well. I am also ADHD. When I was a teen I was often late. Sometimes in my early 20s I figured out how to manage my time and show up early or on time. My ADHD kids (high school and college) are often late. The college students are getting better about it. The high school student is getting worse. I am going to let the school handle the discipline (detention) for being late for class.

Yeah wouldn’t peer pressure actually work here?

This is OP, he goes when the last warning bell rings along with his friends, but this particular class is in the trailers far from where they hang out in the mornings, so he can’t run fast enough (and he is fast, in the spring track team lol)But to the poster who mentioned the alarms on his phone, that is a really good idea. He probably would only need an extra minute or two.

Thank you so much to everyone who responded. I don’t know why I didn’t think about the alarms, I think that should work really well. Thank you for taking the time to provide me with all the helpful suggestions.

Ask the SRO to step in and remind him that he’s not settling a good precedent for the rest of his HS career. You’d be surprised at how much input the SRO’’s have in life skills issues.
