what foods did you hate as a kid, and did you overcome them?

I hated lasagna as a kid for some reason. It's still not the first thing I would choose, but I like it fine when I have it.

Liver and onions, however, will never willingly enter my mouth. My mother looooves them, so choked down quite enough as a kid, thank you.

All you mushroom people give me hope for my kids. I love mushrooms and they won't touch them!

I wasn't a picky eater, but as a child I wouldn't eat olives, black licorice, beets or swiss cheese.

I now love beets & think swiss cheese is fine.

Still can't choke down black licorice or olives though.

I don’t love any of them, but I could eat now them to be polite - mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, kale, and scallops.

Any sort of tomato product. Went thru a 5ish year phase where I wouldn’t eat any type of tomato in any form - no pizza or spaghetti sauce. Now I like red sauce and put tomatoes on sandwiches etc, but I wouldn’t say I LOVE tomatoes.

I didn’t like most veggies growing up but I love vegetables now. I think the difference was in the way they are cooked. Lots of bland steamed veggies with no flavor.

Never did and still don’t like olives.

Cheese. Don't think I won't knock you down to get to the last piece of cheese.

I used to not tolerate mayonnaise, but I am fine with it now (still can’t deal with gobs of it though).

My spice tolerance shot up in my early 20s and then I started to enjoy and crave spicy food.

I like spinach, but not my mom’s default preparation of it (block frozen heated up on the stove with a pinch of salt and pepper).

Still dislike horseradish and cocktail sauce.

I hated yogurt and now have it almost every day for breakfast. I also hated anything with a lot of flavor or spice- wouldn't touch 98% of the menu at any Indian, Viatnamese, Thai, Greek, etc restaurants. Now I barely eat blander food like chicken, pizza, pasta, and mostly eat everything I rejected as a child.

90% of what is mentioned previously I didn't like. Only olives are still on that list. My mom was a great cook, so I think my taste buds just needed to mature.

Eggplant. Had a texture issue. Now, I can’t stop eating it. So delicious.

As a child, I hated all vegetables, beans and lentils. Only ate meat, starches and all fruit. Now, I love most vegetables, although not fond of peas, love all lentils and beans. Change came gradually in my teens. I didnt do anything special..just happened.
