Did you teach your kid to drive yourself?

Anonymous
Yes, I did for exactly ONE day.
I was a nervous wreck & couldn’t stop yelling and criticizing!!
So his Dad took over.
Lol.

I think a good plan for someone under eighteen is a six hr. driving course.
Perhaps after each two-hr. session, the kid can practice w/a parent.

The benefit of enrolling in a driver’s course is that the professional driving instructor can let the kid know what specifically will be asked during the road test.

If they are, that's the way to go. He's a decent teacher but the real value is he can get you a road test slot without dealing with the wait list.

He taught both our kids and was terrific but a long time ago.

I taught my wife to drive and just did the same with my daughter. Son will be next in about a year.

(To answer OP, of course! But people on here hire out their kids bike lessons so nothing will surprise me.)

Np there is so much judgement in what you write. Since when are you the judge and jury of how other people live their lives. Are you perfect? Hint..no one is so you just so you know someone is judging you too.

Mom here. I taught my son from the beginning. Included highways, rural roads (including purposely going off the road and recovering), downtown streets, parallel parking, long-distance trips, toll plazas, bridges, tunnels, rush hour, and driving in snow/ice/rain. Also pumping gas, checking oil, adjusting tire pressure, replacing wiper blades and indicator bulbs, changing tires, jump-starting, calling AAA, and who knows what else. He learned to drive stick from someone else, simply because our cars are automatics.
