Completely agree. Americans of Irish heritage and other Americans had a very romanticized of the IRA. They were horrible, brutal murderers, kidnappers, and maimers. That book brought to life how evil they were and the absolute absurdity of their cause. The hunger strikers who starved to death for no good reason, the men who were kneecapped to never work or walk again for doing nothing, the bombing, and intimidations. Gerry Adams was unmasked for the coward he is. May he rot in hell.

Just finished “Apples Don’t Fall” and it was just meh for me. Too slow paced for me.

I have recently read “Klara and the Sun” and have enjoyed it.0
