| Third was longest labor and pushing phase. Pain was fine up to pushing (no epidural) Baby was OP. Hardest recovery plus most complications. I also had a retained placenta not caught until 2 weeks later. |
Exactly! My OB said the third labor was a crap shoot. There is no rhyme or reason. First baby was 36 hours with an induction. Second baby was 6ish hours of active labor and 2 pushes. Third baby was 15 hours of labor and 3 pushes. I really thought the third baby would come quicker and was very unpleasantly surprised when it took so long! |
| Fast. And he was the biggest by a pound. Recovery was a breeze- I was walking around the delivery room about an hour after he was born. |
Easy. 49 hours with my first (two nights laboring in hospital), 16 hours with my second and 9 hours with my third. Mind you was nine hours starting from the first contraction up until baby was born. Baby has been easier as well

My 3rd was a close call too! Wheeled up to L&D while hubby parked the car. By the time he came up less than 8 minutes later, baby was in my arms. Our friend came over to watch our older kids at 7:47 pm and we got to the car around 8. Baby was born 8:37! Sooo glad we didn't have to wait longer for our babysitter, or I would have had a home birth or had it on the way down in the elevator! As it was I could barely walk to the car! Hubby was a bit perturbed to hear me swearing in the car but I honestly had a sensation like the baby was going to burst out of my belly! My first two were pretty short and pleasant L&Ds but the 3rd was like 0 to 100 in just a few hours! |

13 hours of slow progression; I didn’t not want pitocin.
Everything sped up, labor HARD for an hour: no epidural, standing. He came in 2 pushes. Easiest, best recovery ever. Was walking with friends to get coffee when he was 5 days old. Zero pain. |
This is what my OB said too — 3rd is a wild card. All three of mine were induced and around the same size (nearly 9 pounds). First baby was a 9 hour induction and about 20 mins of pushing. Second was about 5 hour induction and 5 minutes of pushing. Third was three hour induction and also a few minutes of pushing. Good luck OP! |
| I’m also hoping for the best with a third! But my second was already pretty fast, I think around 6-7 hours start to finish. I went in as soon as possible because my first was similarly quick though much longer pushing phase. The second was only hard labor for maybe 2 hours, I just wanted to hurry in so we spent almost none of labor at home. This time I plan on the same rush in at first sign! But I may need an induction, I have a limit. |
