I hate school fundraisers

Our school tried this and no one donated. They made more with the stupid fundraisers.
I don’t understand it.

I am so glad our private school does not involve the kids in fundraisers. I think it’s awful to do that to kids (much less family and neighbors). The fundraisers at our school involve parent auctions and giving committees.

It’s better this way.

How is that any different from your kid being in the Scouts and selling cookies or popcorn?

DP here. My kids are not in Scouts.

The biggest fundraiser at our school is a fall festival with games, pony rides, etc. Love it because the families have a great time together and no one had to buy unnecessary crap.

I love the Christmas paper ones. My kids always participate. We also do auctions, restaurants, and bake sales.

Imagine if you used this energy to care about poorly funded schools. OP do you think schools like having to do this? Nope. They do it to fill in gaps that benefit your kid. You sound like a jerk.

I buy because the money helps the school. I don’t care about the product.

Same. I don't buy that crap either.

Please. They do it to have more pizza parties, unnecessary assemblies, carnivals, etc. It isn't spent on education.

We go to a wealthy public elementary school where the parents fall all over themselves to give money. Then they spend it on stupid crap I don’t agree with. The only time I have EVER donated money to the school was when they were replacing the playground because it did truly suck. I pay for events that happen to be fundraisers (pre Covid) like Bingo and movie nights because the kids have fun.

Not true. If you ever attend a meeting, they present a budget for the year. Our school uses the funds for things like after school classes, to fund field trips, a $75 stipend for each teacher to spend on classroom supplies.

Our school uses the money to buy hundreds of iPads abs elaborate catered lunches for “staff appreciation.” Pass.

I hate it too. I would rather just write a check. Sometimes if it's food I want I'll just buy some. My daughter's preschool did a magazine fundraiser and I really could not bring myself to purchase a magazine subscription - I really really don't need any magazines.
