It seems like there's a lot more of this recently than ever. |
| What a douche comment op. |
I mean, she/he is not wrong. It was said factually, nothing douche about it. My guess is if you had actual facts to dispute it, you would have had something better than this to reply with. |
The OP actually is factually wrong. You're welcome to look the facts up yourself. This isn't debate club. |

During the pandemic many bus drivers in MoCo delivered meals to locations for students and parents to pick them up.
Source: live in lower income area, saw the buses. |
OMG OMG OMG this makes me so angry! MCPS is always up to these shenanigans treating these people with compassion and decency! How dare they! |
Has MCPS published the retention rate of bus drivers that were paid during the pandemic? I am happy to link it if so, but I don’t believe they’ve disclosed it. We do, in fact, have an extreme shortage of bus drivers. That has been well documented. |
Or accountability. Depends on how you spin it. MCPS hates accountability! |
There were about 30 food distribution sites. MCPS has more than 1,300 buses. |
| Many of them were working in other capacities, they had the money for it and when school reopened like it did last fall, they needed to reactivate them very quickly. Its not a job you are willing to do so stop complaining. You think they should have been fired? Who would be driving your brats that you are too lazy to drive now if they didn't have drivers? |
| MCPS priorities is to employees, not teaching students. |
Disagree, but more relevant to this discussion, it's hard to teach students without sufficient employees. |
When people say this I always wonder what they think MCPS budget should be, and if they’ve ever really looked in detail at the budget and where money goes. There is 160k students in the district, what would be a reasonable per pupil cost, in your mind? |
They were also helping to prepare all the meals as the rich people didn't feel like feeding their kids, distributing, cleaning up and doing other behind the scenes jobs. You know, those jobs you aren't willing to volunteer for. |
Paying bus drivers barely minimum wage is not the budget issue. Overspending on the rich fancy new school buildings and constantly doing repairs like turf and then letting other buildings fall apart are an issue. Huge overhead at central office. And, many other wasteful spending. |
