| Suburban. You need the room in the trunk when you have the third row up. The gear needs to go somewhere when you are carpooling four lacrosse players or driving to OBX |
| We went from minivan to Hyundai Palisades with 3 kids. Love it. |
+1. Very roomy in the 3rd row and still plenty of trunk space. We got ours with captains chairs to lessen the arguing between kids having to be in the middle. We love ours. |
| The new ranger rover. Wow! |
A lot of Subarus are made in America, PP. |
| What about young ES-aged children (mine are 5 and 8, we keep our cars a long time though)? No big sports equipment, really just need this for occasional carpooling or when family is visiting (parents in back row, kids in the 3rd). |

Following this thread. We loved our Honda Pilot, which was just totaled by an elderly driver who blew through a stop sign. We bought it over a Highlander because we wanted a useable third row. Realistically, we don't use the third row all that often, and now that I've been driving a Highlander as a rental for a few weeks, I'm torn.
The Pilot and the Highlander are essentially the same size in terms of measurements, but the Highlander feels less like a yacht (but also seats fewer people, since the 3rd row is a joke.) I don't use the third row all that often, but it is nice to have...Any recommendations? |
| The new Wagoneer!!! |
| Not Honda Pilot! I have a 2017 under 50k and already had transmission changed out twice. It’s in the shop again. Will get rid of it as soon as I can. Holding out for Kia Sorento plug in |

| Ford Expedition. Best third row |
| I've been super happy with my Buick Enclave. Captain's seats in the second row and third row can fold down. Has over 100K miles on it now and thinking of buying another one for my next car. |
| Highlander. They handle really well actually. Great turning radius for a 3rd row. Here is a YouTube video from the car wizard (a vet mechanic) on top suvs not to buy https://youtu.be/g5KxRIqDcds |
+1 we have the highlander hybrid and like it a lot. The third row is not very roomy but great for kids and fine for short rides with adults. It’s a good sized car but it doesn’t feel ridiculously huge when driving it. Like pp said, great turning radius. |
