Also, for my son, sometimes he inherits my daughter's jeans and khakis because the girl cuts tend to be narrower than the boy cuts in the same size and brand. He's 9 and will probably notice this soon, though.

When my ds was that age he was in cub scouts and the girls pants were the only ones that fit him. We told him that they put the wrong label in the pants and they were really boy pants. Luckily he bought the story

Both my boys wear girls uniform pants for this reason (8 and 10). Just rip the tags out.

Ds has been wearing Childrens place pull ons till 16- he has super slim waist and it has always been a problem. But he still loves those.

Uniqlo - Japanese people are on the thinner side and the sizes are some of the only pants that fit my kids who are very skinny in the waist and on the taller side

The girls section. Just don’t tell him if he thinks it would be weird. My DD was built more solid and wore “ boy” jeans for a long time.

Try Amazon and order a bunch of sizes with slim fit. Try Haggar, Hilfiger, Nautica, etc. Something will work.

Look for the internal button waist adjusters.

Old Navy has colored jeans that are good enough for "business casual" type kid outfits. Khaki and Gray.

Gap fit sweatpants. Only pants that fit my skinny and tall 9 year old. He currently wears size 12 and the waist fits.
