Yes! There is a guy who stands on a street corner daily near Trader Joes who has a sign with his Venmo and Cashapp handles on them. I am not giving to people on the street anymore in general.

You and I must visit very different malls. I have not seen homeless people do that. They are just asleep or eating good.

But that’s not what the OP is complaining about. The OP is complaining about “sleeping”. So the two situations are the same.

The stuff you’re fantasizing about are multiple different complaints— with quite different possible solutions.

Heroin addicts are not that careless with their works. Too hard too replace unless your community runs a really well-funded needle exchange.

I went to a store in a large strip mall in Prince William county yesterday. There was a family gathered in the grassy area between the parking lot and the main road (Sudley Rd. in Manassas, if you're familiar.) It was a man, a woman, a toddler, and another child that looked to be about 5 or 6 years old. Holding a sign saying they were hungry; the little one was running around (I was worried she might run into traffic) and the dad was chasing/playing with her. The interesting thing is just about every shop/restaurant in that strip mall has a sign up saying that they are hiring--yet an able bodied man brings his babies to sit outside and beg for money, instead of going into the establishments and inquiring about work.

I saw them arrive. They parked outside Walmart. I noticed because they took the furthest parking spot from the store. The car was nice, newish. They had signs and I saw them later at traffic signal begging. They also had a kid with them.

It is very hard for people to work without a fixed address, showers, and clean clothing. How many restaurants or stores are going to hire someone who smells?

A few years ago NYC had problems with women literally passing around the same baby to sit on the street and beg. My father used to do work in Thailand and women there would gather close to the tourist hotels and literally put their babies in a puddle they created on the floor next to them every time a tourist past to illicitly sympathy money. We are really going backwards.

Right now any of them. All I see is sign on bonus signs at fast food restaurants.
