Let me guess MYB to MSD. It is the only possible pathway that would suggest more supportive. |
Your 8 yo dances for 16 hours a week? She needed therapy for anxiety brought on by dance coaches? And you are looking for a place where she can be "challenged"? At 8 yo? This is insane. |
She said competitive gymnastics 16 yrs a week... Reading is fundamental |

| My daughter is at CityDance and loves it. I agree the beginning of the year feels disorganized as kids are trying out different classes to find the best fit. The upside to that is there are lots of classes and the school actually cares about finding the best fit. I’ve learned to relax and roll with it. Overall, DD’s teachers have been excellent and supportive. The culture at the upper levels is intense, which is to be expected. At the lower levels, it’s more relaxed. This is not unique to CityDance. I think when you are comparing schools, it’s important not to compare professional prep programs with recreational dance programs. They don’t have the same vibe. |
| Another happy MSD parent here. It’s my daughter’s happy place. She has a great group of friends there. Staff is supportive and gives good instruction. Have been there since it opened. |
The pr team found the three. This is not my experience nor is it the experience of anyone I have know to go there. |
No body does unhealthy intensity like CD. Stay far away. |

16hrs of anything extra curricular sounds like too much to me, whatever your DD does next, you need to dial it down.
Where in MoCo do you live? I don't have experience with the dance schools mentioned in this thread, but we have been very happy with Dancin' 4 Ever in Olney. DD is young and she's in a class with other preschoolers, so I can't speak about the programs for older kids, but it's worth taking a look! P |
| We've found TWSB to have extremely supportive teachers. It's not perfect there, but it's not stressful. My daughter has loved every teacher she's had there. |
