If it’s something that others will eventually be aware of due to ongoing treatments or health issues, I’d probably tell close family and friends, and allow it to come up more organically with more distant family and acquaintances.

If it’s something that could be kept secret forever there is no reason to tell anyone unless you want to. My son was diagnosed with a potential major issue in utero (luckily he ended up being asymptomatic at birth) and my husband and I only told our parents, bosses, and 1-2 close friends. We never told our siblings and now that he is totally fine there is no reason to.
