You know the baby’s on the outside, right?

for real.

its going to be ok.

one time i was so happy to be out. DS was maybe 8weeks? met friends at Beck's. Got a seafood tower. Raw oysters, lobsters, the whole 9. had a class of champagne. nursed baby. didn't want to leave, bc i was having such a nice time with my friends.

12 hours later he had electric green poop from the raw bar! totally ok. he's a super energetic and bright four year old now.

PP, its gonna be ok.

I just wish I knew the risks of what I did. Is it that she could get brain damage? Is it that she would stop breathing after nursing milk that has a lot of alcohol in it? Is it bad for her liver? Will her stomach be upset? I’m just sitting here holding her. I love this baby so much it hurts. How could I have been so irresponsible?

If anyone else has accidentally gotten drunk and nursed, I would really appreciate hearing how your baby reacted

You are delusional. This wasn’t an accident. This was you! You were there. You know exactly what you were thinking.

OP here. PPs are right. Accidentally was a really stupid choice of words. It absolutely was my choice. I think I meant more that I got carried away. My intention was not to get intoxicated. It was so nice to be outside and enjoy neighbors company after being pretty secluded the past month. I also didn’t take care of myself earlier in the day by not eating. Didn’t mean to come off as delusional. I know this is all my fault.

Ignore the b-tchy PP. You are beating yourself up waaaay too much about this. Your baby is absolutely fine.

You are fine. The baby is fine. Please stop reading replies and stop beating yourself up and explaining yourself to the unhelpful people responding to this thread.

She didn’t know how many cocktails she ended up having, and she nursed her baby all night. I’m
Sorry, but this isn’t good for the baby and you know it. I’m sure your kids are “fine” but promoting getting drunk while breastfeeding or parenting is not smart

NP. She said she had 4 drinks over the course of 4 hours. It’s fine. Give it a f-ing rest.

FAS is a result of routine drinking while pregnant, not one episode of drinking while breastfeeding.

Sadly, OP, there are some posters on DCUM that project their own issues whenever the topic of drinking comes up. Ignore them.

You're fine; your baby is fine.

Enjoy this beautiful Sunday with your baby!

First of, you have enough shame on yourself so I won’t add to it.

Second, I did this once. Got super drunk at a football game and couldn’t even make it back into the door.

This morning you should be fine, make sure you’re drinking water

The second thing, if you’re going to keep drinking you need to purchase the testing strips for breastmilk to make sure you’re clear to feed after drinking.

To my understanding, it’s one hour you have to hold off for every drink.

Go get the strips, get your breastmilk tested and then have your mind at ease.

Also, please pump milk before you go out and drink again this stress isn’t worth it.

Take care of yourself, don’t let this spiral you out.

The baby will be ok

There’s very little alcohol in milk.
You being drunk means the milk has the same alcohol as diluted kombucha. Don’t worry about it.

Yes this.

You had five cocktails?! That’s more the recommended WEEKLY amount for non-breastfeeding women. Sheesh, I think you definitely had or need a come to Jesus moment.

This is just ridiculous. It's a good idea not to have five cocktails every night when you have a young baby because it's a huge risk factor for SIDS, and there is some evidence babies eat less after a nursing mom drinks a lot, but OP obviously is not doing that. This is not like getting drunk when you are 6 weeks pregnant (which itself is not like getting drunk regularly when pregnant which is what causes FAS). There's truly nothing to worry about. This entire thread is a bunch of sanctimommies trying to make themselves feel good by judging another mom. So pathetic.

Drink a ton of water today. Be humbled. Rest. Then let it go with the understanding your limits are different now.

Lol that's how I got pregnant at 18 and now have a 5 year old. I limit myself to 1 drink now.
