Roll your eyes, but I'm a NP and my daughter did the same. Not "dominated" in a bad way, but in a way that let her develop a strong relationship with her teachers and gain a lot of confidence as a student. Those are much more important things to learn in pre-K than phonics and addition.

This seems like more of a personality trait than something you can attribute to age. My late September kid is this way. Go getter, extrovert, advanced academically. My early Oct child hid in a corner until 1st grade and while academically advanced, struggles socially. December child is more like September child but more reserved.

I think people put too much emphasis on age in school as a factor for success. I have taught late elementary school for 17 years and the student who you think is the youngest is never actually the youngest.

In response to OP, I agree with various PPs. It is early in the year. Your child will fond her place.

try to see if you can get her in one of those mixed age classroom schools?

My kid was always on the younger end of his class from baby room through preK. While he definitely “kept up with the crew,” we’re now in a mixed age 3-6 K class where I’m glad he’s on the older end.

OP, this will give your kid a chance to be a leader.
