| Women’s tennis is pathetic . You imagine an 18 year old qualifier making the finals on the men’s side |
| Both contenders have the potential to win the match. Both have the mental strength and tenacity to win. However, after having watched the two semi-finals, I lean towards Raducanu. Fernandez was great a saving herself, but she seemed more prone to errors that created the situations. Fernandez seems to play a higher risk/reward game and it shows. Raducanu seems to have more control. The differences are very slight, so either could have the better day and win, but this is just my 2 cents from the semi-finals. I will admit that I hadn't seen much of either player other than highlights before the SF, so I don't have a lot to go on. |
These two have been a joy to watch but boy, I hope they have good support networks because regardless of the outcome tomorrow, things are going to change for both of them in a hurry. The days of no pressure? Gone. And they've both had the advantage of being fairly unknown even amongst their fellow players. Their opponents were struggling to figure out how to play them, for Radunacu in particular. That will change as well. Best of luck to them tomorrow and in the years ahead. |
The mental toughness from Fernandez though. Emma broke down in the 4th round of Wimbledon and retired. Probably anxiety. Both are talented in different ways. Hoping for a great match! |

It has been a great two weeks. I’ll be there in the stands cheering these awesome young ladies on.
Looking forward to the men’s semifinals tonight. |
Looks like FAA won't survive the first semi-final. He had his chances with two set points in the second set. Could not monopolize on the big points. Urgh |
Enjoy! |
He just might! |
Quite the take. |
Monopolize? |

Wonder if Leylah is a bit overly dramatic and like to hyperbolize. Something I like to take a break from in women's tennis.
Talking about how at the tender age of 10, a teacher told her "to stop playing tennis, you will never make it..." She also said that her mom moved to California in order to support the family while leaving her, her father and sister in Canada. "That few years has been definitely hard for me because I needed a mom, I needed someone to be there for me through the age of 10 to 13." On when she felt she could have beaten Osaka: Without hesitation, "From the very beginning, right before the match, I knew I was able to win." |
Sure, monopolize. |
Heard the same thing about Sloane Stephens, Jelena Ostapenko, and Sofia Kenin, and they've all faded/struggled. Enjoy the moment but don't count on necessarily seeing them again in finals. |
DP, but obviously PP meant capitalize. |
She’s 18 dear. Relax |
