Good Summer Road Trip/Vacation Ideas?

We are looking to do things in addition to our several trips to Rehoboth/Bethany this summer. I remember the days that my mother/father crammed everything into the station wagon and took long road trips, with many stops along the way. I found it educuational and fun (I remember with particular vividness and fondness Kitty Hawk).

Do folks still take these vacation roadtrips? Any ideas out there? We have two DCs, ages 5 and 9.
