Private & Independent Schools
Some schools in other areas send out fancy packages, other notify on line. How is it handled in this area? And do we all here on March 10?
Many schools notify on March 4.
Okay to the poster who left the link. After I laughed my head off at some of the responses to the question, the only serious posts were those regarding Beauvoir. I am just curious to see how things are handled. I have applied my kid to both boarding and independent schools and from what I am seeing on the College Confidential board, certain boarding schools handle their acceptances differently. Not with harps of course, but it is not the same across the board. Are the Washington schools the same, and just send out a fat envelope if you got in, and a skinny one for rejections and wait-lists?
That was our experience for both kids in applying to DC area schools. It's just like college (or just like college was back in the dark ages when I applied): Fat = accept, skinny=wait list or reject.
I think all schools are different, My daughter was accepted at four schools last year, two called and two sent letters.

Letters or letters w/ calls.
One acceptanceletter contained a card from a senior. |
