| Sorry, this might be posted in the wrong forum, but I'm not sure where it should be. I am considering a VBAC for #2 (not pregnant yet), and I would be interested in hearing your experiences. What is the success rate for VBACs? Any recommendations (including doctors, if you were successful) would be appreciated. |

The success rate for VBACs depends on why you had a c-section in the first place. If #1 was breech then your odds of a successful VBAC are pretty high. If #1 wouldn't come out after a lot of pushing or your labor stalled then your odds are not as good.
Dr. Tcahbo (sp?) at Virginia Hospital Center is usually recommended as the best with VBACs. The wait times for his appointments can be crazy long but I hear he is worth it. I would recommend the following: 1. make sure your partner and your doctor are supportive of the VBAC. This makes such a difference. 2. Consider a doula 3. contact a local chapter of ICAN - they might have more doctor recommendations I tried a VBAC with #2 but it didn't work out. I never went into labor and my doctor would not induce since I had a previous c-section. Good luck! |

You could also join one of the midwifery practices. I'm attempting a VBAC and switched to Midwifery Care Associates in Bethesda, they are great and deliver at Shady Grove Hospital. I believe their VBAC success rate is 80%.
Good luck! There's lots of great information out there. |
| Look through the Expectant Moms forum - this is a frequent question. |
| I had a VBAC with second and was so happy about it. I had to insist on it with my doctors. They were not happy, they wanted a planned c-section (Reiter and Hill practice). Find a doctor who supports your desire. It is possible for many and again, I was thrilled with the experience. It was so much easier to recover and I felt great (all things considered) afterward. Helped with nursing too. Good luck to you!! |
