three csections?

Anonymous
Hi-I have already have had one and am scheduled for the second due to medical reasons. I thought I would be finished with two kids but am now realizing that I would like one more. Has anyone had three csections?? If so, what was it like and is it considered dangerous?

You can always consider a VBAC!

My sister-in-law had three c-sections, and suffered no ill consequences. Her doctor doesn't want her to get pregnant again, however.

A woman I work with had 3 - the first was an emergency and the last 2 were elective. She is fine.

I asked my OB this question, because I have had 2 c-sections. She said there is no problem with having 3 c-sections, she's had some women with 4 or 5.

VBAC is NOT an option once you've had multiple c-sections. There is an increased risk of uterine rupture and I would be very leery of an OB who was OK with that.

Assuming you've had low risk preganancies, you should be fine. I don't know if the risk of placental issues increases with the increased uterine scarring (although they should cut in the exact same place as before).

Definitely something to discuss further with your doctor.
