Did you grow up in the DC area?

Anonymous
DH and I currently live in NYC. We both went to college and grad school in Boston.
We will be moving to the DC area this summer.

Hi,
What sort of information are you looking for, OP?
Anonymous
Maryland, so yes.

yes, wow this thread will be exciting

What sort of information do you want? I live in Georgetown in DC -- it's great.

The title of the post and the OP don't quite mesh, but I'll play. My H was born and raised in the area, went to college and moved back to area afterwards.

Born and raised in Bethesda, spent my twenties in Cambridge (MA), now living in Bethesda for the indefinite future.

Not sure how this information is at all helpful to you, OP.

Indeed.

Years later still not "from here" and don't care to be, no matter who I offend. DH is "from here". I personally avoid those who don't branch out more.

OP, you will be arriving during some s-t-i-c-k-y weather, you likely already know. If you are really moving from the NE, it will be quite a culture shock, but you will do fine. Just wish someone had warned me, having come from somewhere else.

Wtf? You don't like ppl that don't branch out more except for the guy you married? You sound like a piece of work.

I am "from here", but left for college and the subsequent 10 years. I moved back in my early 30s. Does that mean I didn't branch out enough for you?

PP clearly doesn't care about offending the likes of you, 17:18. Maybe DH's undesirable qualities are that bad?

Me too--- but was gone from 18 til 35. Lived in Europe for 10 of the years I was gone.

When DH and I were ready to start a family I knew I wanted to raise kids in this area due to my parents and one of my siblings families being here too. My boys have a fantastic, close relationship with their grandparents and monthly Overnight sleepiness are a great break for us as parents. It's great not to have to travel for the holidays.

For the record- I grew up in NOVA and my parents are still in my childhood home. I live in DC.

Family can be great when you have "good faMily".
