Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
I'm thinking of buying a cookbook for my non-cooking husband for Valentine's Day because he says he'd like to cook more. Any recommendations for a cookbook with easy, healthy meals?
Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything is a great resource. My DH (who can cook, but likes to keep it simple) also likes an America's Test Kitchen cookbook of 30-minute or less meals. We found it at the supermarket but I bet you could find something similar online or at a bookstore.
The America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated series could be a good start. They basically teach you how to cook...tell you why you're doing what you do. Like how the oil in the pan should be shimmering but not smoking before you put the food in to minimize sticking. Some people find them a little anal-retentive, but I think they're great for someone who wants to learn the basics.
Jamie Oliver might be a good one too.
