Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
We're taking our 9month DD on her first airplane trip out of DCA on Northwest. Does anyone have any suggestions for the airport or airline? I talked to an agent who said the carseat could be gate checked but I'm not sure if I believed him. (Sorry but I always get mixed information from customer service reps). Does anyone know how baby "friendly" National and NWA are? Thanks much!
I gate-checked a stroller at National last week, flying NW, and there wee other families on the flight gate-checking car seats. NWA at DCA is actually pretty good, because the terminal is so small, and therefore less crowded. Which is not to say you might not encounter someone - either TSA or NW - not following the playbook, but it was generally an okay experience.
Have flown NWA several times with DS. I have always checked the Britax at the curb but when we were using our infant seat and graco snap and go frame we checked both of those at the gate. I agree that flying out of DCA on Northwest is easy since terminal A is small. Good luck on your flight.
Fly out of DCA all the time - I have an 8 month old. We have gate checked our infant car seat and stroller everytime with NO problems. It doesn't affect your checked bag allowance or your carryon allowance. They will just tag it before you go down the jetway. Just ask the person at the counter once you get to your gate. Also ask them if the flight is full - if it isn't full they will put you in a row of seats where you have an empty seat next to you - so nice! IT doesn't always work out though. Good luck!
I have flown with NWA out of DCA many times. Check your carseat and stroller, very easy. Just keep in mind that NW terminal is a long walk from the other terminals. I think there is a shuttle, but I have never used it. just give your self some time.
OP here, much thanks for the information. Another question, how strict are they with bringing juice boxes through security?
