Any thoughts about living in San Antonio with young children.

compared to DC metro??? go and don't look back. disclaimer: i am not a fan of this area at all - way too many people and way too many people in a bad mood all the time -and i've only been to san antonio a few times for inlaw visits. low humidity most of the time, more laid-back than here for sure - the zoo/breckanridge park is pretty cool and kid-friendly. you won't get the free museums like here but who wants to raise kids here????

I use to really like living in this area but now that we have children, the DC metro area is pretty stressful place to work full time and raise a family.

I have a good friend who moved there. You'll be able to buy a large house very cheaply, and childcare is also inexpensive. But be prepared to spend a lot of time driving - except for a few close to downtown areas, most people live in neighborhoods that aren't walkable. And my friend really struggles to find people who are intellectual, or at the very list curious - about the world, current events, even new types of food or beer. Basically, they like what their money can buy, but are not thrilled with the area.

My in-laws live north of the city and I ditto this. Yes, it is cheap, but it just is NOT a place I care to live in. We are however, hoping to move to Austin at some point. Could you consider that?
