curly hair people

Where can I get a really good haircut? I always look like I am 16 years old. I want something more professional. However, I have two children so there is no time to actually style my hair. There must be a hairstyle for curly hair that is professional & easy to take care of? TIA!

if you search the archives here and on the list serv, I know I've seen this question asked several times before--there should be a good suggestion for someplace near you.

My sister has thick curly hair and she used to go to Elie in Tysons Corner Center.

Go to Passent at Elizabeth Arden $55 she is only there on Wednesdays and the other days at the Fair Oaks location?

But, she is the best in the area. You will have to reserve maybe a month in advance for the Pentagon location. Maybe she has sooner appointments in Fair Oaks. She is definitely worth the drive. Everyone I have sent to her has been extremely happy. She is young (very stylish) and has curly hair herself.

I have really curly hair, but also have the ability to straighten it, weather permitting. I go to Bang Salon, DC. I see Brittany & she does a good job cutting curly hair.

How do you straighten it? Thanks.

Different poster here. Flatiron. Not for you if you have active kids and don't have time for something a bit higher maintenance!

I have curly hair and flat iron it just about every day

16:20 here. I was just responding to OP's comment that she has no time to actually style her hair. I use my flatiron when I have time, which isn't often.

Another thing to consider is not just the haircut, but getting good "product" to work with what you have. I have naturally curly/wavey hair, and I love the flat iron, but that can take too much time. So I often use Kerastase mousse and other hair products (the "nacre"), then let my hair air dry - without ever running a brush through it so the curls stay more together. It looks SO much better curly that way, and I get tons of compliments. Without the hair products, it would look awful. Kerastase is expensive but lasts forever - and I'm sure there are similar products you can get at Target, CVS, etc.

Elie at Tyson's corner has "Ouidad" technique specifically for curly hair. Pricey but worth it.

No it's not. The Ouidad method is outdated and can make your hair bushy after a few weeks. I hear Elie is an ass.
