Alexandria Preschool Admissions - Opinions Needed!!!

Please help by sharing your thoughts, they are most appreciated!

I'm pretty new to the area and never been through this preschool admission process before. I wanted to know other people's thoughts on our predicament. Would it be totally detrimental to our chances of getting a spot in a 2 1/2 year old program, by not showing up hours before registration opens for a spot. This is our first choice in Alexandria preschools we would like our daughter to attend in September. I know Alexandria has some wonderful part time preschools but, my husband and I need our daughter in a full day program.

Here's the problem... unfortunately, we have a wedding to attend and can't make the registration date. Should we go to the wedding and say "if it's meant to be it will be" and hope our daughter will get in via wait list or gulp...back out on the wedding? It's not a family or close friend wedding but, still I feel bad either way.

Suggestions...What would you do? Also - If you know of any full day preschool programs in the Alexandria area, please share. I would love to have other options.

Have you tried to call the school and see if you can get the application because you will be outof town or see if someone can wait in line for you and get the application?
