Q from a non soccer fan (other than kiddie soccer...)
we're channel surfing last night and unexpectedly caught a soccer match - Arsenal vs HUDD (?) and were totally blown away by the pace of the game. we only watched about 10 minutes from the 65-min on and there must've been 20 shots on goals (2 went in), so it's like every 30 seconds there's a big play in front of a goal, and players were constantly attacking the goals and moving at a break-neck pace with no timeouts (other than injuries?) this is vastly different from what we saw before even during the world cup, and those were the best players in the world. is this common to Euro soccer, or just this game? |

Well every game is different, of course. Some are exciting, some not so much. I'm not a football (soccer) fan and have only been to a few games, but they were very boring IMO. My dad and my brother are Arsenal fans, and my brother has a season ticket so he goes to every game. They would probably argue that all Arsenal games are exciting but I beg to differ.
And HUDD stands for Huddersfield Town, the underdogs in this match. |
| tks. yeah boring was my impression, but that game was anything but (in that 10-min anyway). hence the question... |
| Yup, that describes European soccer. My husband was an Argentina fan for his entire childhood up through his 20s. Then in his 30s he discovered British Premier League soccer and is now the biggest Chelsea fan there is. I am really glad, because I always preferred the faster pace of European soccer. |

Mexican soccer is pretty fast, too.
