What's your go to Sunday lunch with friends recipe/menu?

Anonymous
There will be four adults and three toddlers. I want a menu that I can do most of the prep for on Saturday or Sunday morning, so that I don't have to spend too much time in the kitchen when the guests arrive. We eat everything apart from nuts. And I don't want anything too spicy. Any ideas? Was thinking of just a main course and dessert.

Thank you.

I would treat it as more of a brunch ... a hearty quiche, spinach salad (with pears or cranberries) and maybe some rolls/croissants/muffins. Everything can be made in advance except the salad which you can toss just before serving.

Agree with the PP. Another idea is to make ahead a platter of turkey, pastrami, cheese, lettuce and sliced tomato and pickles, and put out with rolls or bagels and mustard, mayo. Add a make ahead pasta salad (or bowl of good chips like terra chips) and a fruit salad.

I usually do chicken salad, fruit salad, rolls and Cookies.

I would do a brunch too - and my go-to brunch is a frittata (with various things depending on your company's tastes), apple chicken sausages, sliced fruit, and some sort of muffin/scone/bagel. And mimosas for adults, oj for kids and plenty of coffee. Frittata and sausages can be made in advance and kept warm in oven.

I agree with this, and this sort of food is not your usual fare, so it's always well-received by guests.
