Hello,
I have a bob haircut for years... I mean at least 10 years. While it looks nice on me, I really want to experiment a bit with my hair. I have an oval/long face with high cheekbones. I want to try bangs. Have any of you tried bangs on an oval face? Which type of bangs? Is there a good website out there in which you can put your photo and see how the hairstyles look on you? The ones I've tried are crap. Sorry if I seem a bit insecure. I am a new mom and yes... definitely feeling insecure...oh, and I have thick hair... Thanks so much for the advice!!!! |

I have an oval longish face and wear my hair long, with long bangs swept to the side. My haircut has long angled layers. I like it, my husband loves it, and have been told that the style flatters me.
Used to have a bob, but it made my face look rounder and me a bit heavier. I also found that having longer hair is much easier to manage, it is much more forgiving to my natural texture which is a little wavy and thick. With a bob, it was always rumpled unless I straightened it. Now I let it air dry or sleep on it wet and just comb a little water and smoothing cream through in the morning. |

Hi,
I also have an oval face and very thick hair. I had a bob with bangs and people didn't like it. Said it looked dowdy and made me look older (was in late 20-s then). I am intrigued in the PP's description of her hair. Bangs swept back?? Any celebrity/person I can google that has a similar style?? |
| I also had the bob for years -- made me look frumpy. Grew my hair out -- side bangs and different lengths around the face make your face look really nice...go to a really good hairstylist. The bob is not good for a long face. |
| Clairol.com has a tool that you can use to try out hairstyles and haircolor. You just upload your photo. |

PP here. I figured something out--if you google "long layers side swept bangs" the images that pop up are pretty similar to what I have.
FWIW, I highly recommend Max at AVA Salon at 3rd & Pennsylvania Ave SE on Capitol Hill (closest metro is Capitol South). Haircut is reasonable (around $60 w/ styling) and grows out really nice. I am a little broke so I do my own color and get cuts every 3 mo or so. |
