Have you taken a sur la table cooking class?

If so, do you recommend? I want to take my mom to one for her birthday. She and I both know how to cook decently so no need for a 101 course, but there are so many I don't know which of the specialty ones to choose. Tuscan food? Sushi making?

Which ones have you done and liked?

I took an Indian cooking class at Sur La Table and really enjoyed it. Great activity to share with your mother. The pasta making class also looks interesting. I've heard that knife skills 101 is really good - even for those who have experience in the kitchen.

I took a pastry class, it was great! I learned how to make my own pie crust.

Thanks for the feedback!

DH and I took one and frankly, it sucked. The teacher was unprepared and seemed to not know what he was doing. I cook a fair amount and found it to be very, very 101. I'd take an advanced class if you know how to saute anything already.

This is embarassing but I remember hearing someone's experience taking a SLT class and not liking it and I can't remember whether it was a friend or I read it on DCUM! Anyway, I was considering it and the feedback was that it was too expensive for what it was and then instead of eating the results, the instructor let everyone have a tiny portion and then wanted to give it to the other SLT workers or something weird like that.
