Travel Discussion
| We'd like to do a summer vacation that combines sightseeing opportunities with a bit of beach time. We're trying to come up with possible destinations but aren't coming up with much. Any ideas/suggestions? Anywhere warm goes. TIA! |
| Barcelona. |

Anywhere in Greece.
San Diego |
|
Also lots of places on Mediterranean coast in Turkey. Lots of fascinating Greek remains, e.g. Ephesus.
Sorrento in Italy - easy trip to Pompeii. |
| Charleston and/or Savannah. |
| LA -- fabulous museums and architecture, major league baseball, terrific theatre and music scene, great hiking and tons of beaches. I grew up in the Bay Area and it took me years to shed my NoCal elitist views about LA, but I've come to love it. We took our teen and tween kids last year and had a blast. |

I wouldn't do California if you actually want to enjoy swimming in the ocean. Too cold.
How about Nice? Hawaii. |
| Costa Rica |
| San Diego. Stay on Coronado which has lots of resorts and take quick trips to the zoo, sea world, lego land etc. |
Oops, sorry--just noticed you specifically said cities. How about Manuel Antonio? Lots of eco-tourism opportunities if you're into that. |
| Drive along PCH 1/101 in CA - lots of lovely towns (hope that's ok) and some cities up and down the coast: Monterey, Carmel, Santa Barbara, LA, La Jolla and San Diego to name a few. |

Boston and then a few days in Cape Cod
Kiawah with a day excursion to Charleston LA |
| I agree on the Charleston/Kiawah rec. Second choice would be San Diego/Coronado. |
| Was there two weeks ago (San Diego/Coronado), love the place! Some Like It Hot was made there! |
Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming Any places in the southern Americas that people would recommend?
