I am 6 months and starting to get that nesting bug--but we still use our soon-to-be nursery as an office. We have the crib and decorations and furniture won't get here for another month or two so we were thinking of waiting another month or so to set it up but I am getting ancy ![]() When did you get things ready? |
i started doing things little by little at our 18-20 weeks, like buying furniture - but really, it was just these past few weekend (30-33 weeks) that I really started getting things ready. started doing laundry, assembling items like bouncy seats, etc. etc. of course it helped that this was after my shower.
i still have a bunch to do - but if she came right now, i'd be in good shape. |
I am a huge dork, and had the whole thing done by 5 months. We have a tiny condo, and needed to convert the second bedroom (functioning as an office) into the nursery, so I just did it all at once.
I had a ball with it. Was lots of fun. |
Uh, I didn't do it until after my baby arrived! |
I'm 6 1/2 months along, and I'm doing it a little bit at a time. I've got the dresser, a bookcase, and am putting together the crib (will finish that once a replacement part arrives). I probably won't have everything done until a week or two before the due date. I'd like to get it all done before the baby arrives, even the items that aren't really essential, because I don't think I'll ever finish it otherwise. |
moved all office supplies out at 6 months, bought dresser and crib at 7, and getting finalized at 8.5-9 months. Doing it at a gradual pace makes it less stressful! Have fun!

Due this week and just did the laundry this weekend but haven't come to iron it. Bought diapers and most basic stuff last week but it's not that the whole nursery is ready. I know from experience that baby will sleep with us for the first couple of weeks so I'll probably start decorating after baby's born. |
16:20 - ironing? what? iron what? i don't understand. what baby's things need to be ironed? |
This made me laugh. Thank you! Some people iron their sheets so maybe this person irons baby linens? Until the baby is born, that is. |
I have several smocked day gowns and cotton dresses that need to be ironed. |
Stupid question here...are you supposed to launder baby's (new) clothes before she wears them? |
Yes, you should launder them, and you should launder them in something extra gentle like Dreft for the sake of baby's sensitive skin. |
lol. i have several smocked dresses and gowns too that are cotton and since being washed are a teeny bit wrinkly - but since i removed them from the dryer right away the wrinkling is minimal. you can bet your bottom dollar that i won't be ironing clothes for a 1 month old. i will have enough to deal with thank you very much!!!!!

I'm 27 weeks and we just painted the nursery this past weekend. Prior to that, I spent several weekends cleaning it out, as it was my office/catch-all room. We still need to get an estimate to recarpet, and we're ordering the furniture this weekend. But it's pretty fun to peek in now & see an empty, pretty blue room! My only suggestion would be not to wait oo long if you have much manual labor to do, as it gets harder/more tiring the further along you are! |
33 weeks here. The baby will be sleeping in our bedroom for at least a few months so we've rearranged the bedroom furniture to accommodate an arm's reach cosleeper. Other than that we're not doing much except laundry. We plan to set up the baby's room when he's about six months old, and I'd prefer to not lose use of that room for the six months or so we expect him to be in our room. |
