to the poster who thinks it is silly to gas up before a snowstorm

Anonymous
you know who you are. every time a big snowstorm is predicted and people say they are going to fill up with gas, you mock them and say that the world isn't going to end, no need to rush out and fill up with gas.

well, I hope all those people stuck on the highway tonight have LOTS OF GAS in their cars to help keep them and their kids warm as they inch 3 mph on their way home.

I am now very low on gas. I had more than a quarter of a tank before I left for the 15 mile ride home. I should have filled up. I'm not the poster you're referring to, but I've learned my lesson.

Thank you. I never understood why people fill up their tanks before a snowstorm.

And to the poster who thinks it is stupid to go to the store to buy milk and bread before a snow storm, just think how hungry all those people stuck in their cars would be if they didn't have milk and bread with them.

In a lot of places, the gas stations have trouble refilling during/after a snowstorm. Then you're SOL!

Which neighborhoods have trouble refilling after a snow storm? Even last year during the double whammy of mega storms, we didn't have any trouble finding gas in our neighborhoods in and around Burke. That would suck if you have gas stations that habitually run out and don't get refilled . . .

I hope all those people have gas and food on the road. I hope tey can walk to some place to use a bathroom too. Can you imagine?

Yeah, the people who mock those of us who take precautions can bite me!

I hysterically run to the store not just to buy milk and bread, but also carts full of TP at the first mention of snow. I bet those people stranded in their cars could only dream of a 16 mega roll pack of tp (16 megas=48 regular rolls doncha know!).

Or how frustrating it would have been to have to go out to the grocery store, take six hours to drive there, and six hours back...

Oh man, I could have used a snack in my ca last night!

Oh, and I had to pee in my travel mug.

I got out to pee by the side of the road in downtown Bethesda!

I only went to the grocery store once before last year's second massive snowstorm. People were buying milk and bread but also tons of junk food. The produce guy told me that no one buys lettuce or broccoli before a snowstorm.

It never dawned on me to gas up before a snow storm. It also never dawned on me to sit in my car for 4 hours on a snowy evening . . . I just pulled over and went into a restaurant and had dinner and relaxed until the roads opened up more after about 9pm. By then the worst of the snow was done anyway.

The people stuck on the Beltway or GW Parkway didn't have that option
