Am at week 37 and have hemorrhoids. They just appeared and only bother me when I go to the bathroom and have to wipe, not a huge deal. Do I have to treat them or will they go away by themselves? Sorry for sharing, but thanks for any advice. |
So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they are only going to get worse - MUCH worse - after childbirth. The ones I had at week 37 were nothing compared to what I faced post-delivery. It was single-handedly the worst part of the recovery period. There was nothing that was particularly effective with respect to treatment. I just used tucks pads at the recommendation of my doctor. It was wildly and horribly uncomfortable for about two weeks and then they went away on their own. So sorry. If it makes you feel better, most pregnant women have to deal with them at some point. |
Ugh! These are the worst. The hemorrhoids were actually more painful than my stiches after giving birth, so I feel your pain. If they are really bothering you, your doctor can write a prescription for a suppository that's safe to take while pregnant. However, they will probably be worse after pushing, so you may want to just want to wait until after the baby to treat them. |
They will indeed get worse so I would try to treat them as well as possible before you give birth. If you leave them like this you might end up having to have them removed (happened to a friend of mine). Make sure you eat well and that you have soft stool which ofcourse makes a huge difference.
Makes you wonder why us women are being rewarded with those nasty things after you have gone through delivery! I know you get the best gift in the end but boy you do have to sacrifice as well.. Good luck! |
OP here. Ugh! Not the news I wanted to hear, but thanks. I am scheduled for a c, so no pushing for me. Think that would make a difference in them getting worse?
I have an OB appointment tomorrow so I'll start asking about treatments. Thanks again. |
My baby is 6 weeks and I still have small hemmorrhoids (I actually didn't get them until after I gave birth). For me, taking long hot baths (which is hard when you have a newborn) have really helped a lot, you may want to consider. |
Yes, having a C-section will definitely make a difference. They get worse because of the pushing (reason why you have them in the first place because you have different stool). So just treat them now and you will not have to worry about them after you have given birth |
