Hi, My hubby just mentioned that we are hosting a Super Bowl XLV party here for about 30 people.
I need suggestions on what to make and would appreciate and recipes, tips. Thanks! |
| Check out the recipes at pioneerwoman.com. |
| Make it easy on yourself. Fill a crockpot with frozen meatballs and pour BBQ sauce over them. Get some chips & dips, make some crudites, and order a giant sub from a sub shop. And beer. Lots of beer. |

I think you have to make buffalo chicken dip. It is the Superbowl, after all.
Pigs in blankets would be great too. |
| Hot Reuben Dip with mini Rye Toast squares. Orzo pasta salad with spinach, red peppers, edamame and feta. Pre-order jumbo subs from Wegemans (meatball sub with provolone and extra sauce) and a sub platter (can't get hot subs on their sub platters so order hot items separately.) None of these takes more than 30 minutes to make or prep. Have fun! |

OP here, Thanks for the ideas.
Anyone have a buffalo chicken dip recipe and a wings recipe? |

I change the recipe, as follows: - use rotisserie chicken (breasts-only) - use more blue cheese dressing and more Frank's Red Hot (to taste) - use mozzarella cheese YUMMY! |
| Thank you! |

OP, you could also make a couple of huge pots of chili, then serve it on a chili/nachos bar. People can have bowls of plain chili, or load it up on some nachos.
Also have different dips for the chips, maybe one other appetizer, and you will be good to go. Oh, and don't forget to make DH at least help you prep the food. |

Even though I'm vegetarian, I've been to some parties where they've done different chili and I thought the addition of "white chili" (chicken chili) was a good one.
I have a bean dip that is easy, terrible for you and everyone loves. My friends would be upset if I showed up without it. Off the top of my head: 1 can refried pintos 1 can refried black beans 1 "bar" cream cheese (softened) 1C. sour cream 1 package taco mix 1 C. shredded cheese (or more) 1 bunch scallions, chopped Mix all the ingredients together and sprinkle with some extra shredded cheese, bake for about 30 min, 350-375 degrees. It will stay hot for a long time! |

The dip recipes on the lipton soup boxes are good and easy. The onion soup mix one makes a great potato chip dip. There is a great clam one as well and a great spinach one.
I like the idea to make chili in one crockpot. You should borrow as many crock pots as you can...they're great and easy. You could make a queso dip in one...melt some cheddar cheese in the microw. and put in some chili sauce...voila...great queso. My sister makes these sandwiches with tortilla shells that I thought looked gross...but people gobbled them up even though she had one hundred other things. Put some turkey or any other kind of meat, one slice of cheese, spread cream cheese on the tortiall shell and then roll a sandwich and cut them in bite sizse pieces. I promise you that people love them. |

Here an easy spinach and artichoke recipe. I like to serve it with sliced french bread. It is always a hit!
Spinach and Artichoke Dip 1 can artichoke heart (I usually cut them up a little) 2 cups fresh spinach or 5-8 oz chopped frozen (I use the frozen and microwave it to defrost it) 1/3 cup parmesan cheese (I use the shredded kind in a bag, and I use a little extra to put on top at the end) 1/2 cup light mayo A little minced garlic, salt, pepper (I use garlic salt instead and pepper) Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients together (add more mayo if it is not creamy) and put in a dish -- I use a pyrex pie plate. I sprinkle a little more parmesan cheese on top. Bake for 20 minutes or until top gets brown and bubbly. |

Here are my top recipes for Super Bowl parties:
1. Homemade Guacamole 2. Sweet potato Quesadillas (recipe by Molly Katsen) 3. Sausage balls 4. 7 layer Mexican dip 5. Cheese dip (the Rotel Velveeta kind) If you are short on time 3, 4 and 5 would probably be your best bet. I love cooking for the Super Bowl because people expect thing that are not so heathly! |
This sounds delicious and so much better than the spinach dip on the Knorr box--thanks!! |
