mucus plug? Warning: TMI

| This might be a strange question but I was wondering what a mucus plug looks like? Is it big, should it be big? Does it have to be bloody? I am 38 weeks, 2 cm dilated since last weekand feel ok but I did have some cramping and today I have been going to the bathroom and noticed that there is some slimey discharge. Clear yellow though, nothing bloody. Is it possible that it will not come out in one piece? |

When I lost mine there was no doubt it was the mucus plug. Here's my suggestion: if you have to ask, it isn't the mucus plug. Believe me, you will know it when you see it.
Mine was by no means clear. |

| Mine wasn't bloody, and it didn't come out in one piece. It was clear, and (sorry TMI) it kind of looked like snot. OP, it sounds like you might well be losing yours and things are on their way. Good luck and hope you have an easy delivery! |

| I agree with PP...it sounds like you might be losing yours. Mine did not come out in one big plug, but a little at a time and OPs description sounds like what I saw. |

| mine also came out in pieces (on a wednesday) and looked like OP describes. i was 1 cm dialated and slightly effaced at dr visit on that friday. i delivered baby on monday afternoon. good luck. |
