Are you proud of yourselves, petulant puerile parents who sound like they haven't grown beyond the toddler phase themselves? Of course, anonymity springs vitriol; when there are no personal social consequences for expressing opinion, people can truly express their disgusting, unnerving bigotries and prejudices without holding back. But I must say that not only is this forum remarkable for the socioeconomic and locational prejudices and bigotries expressed by its members, I find it incredibly ironic and disturbing that the members of this site are by and large those who have been charged with instilling morals, values, and ethics into the future generations of adults. I myself am a 28 year old childless male. If this is the sort of degeneration that parenthood forces people to undergo in the early 21st century, at least in the DC area, then I might remain that way for the rest of my life. Or I will move away sufficiently far from a city to avoid its insidious influences. In parting, I'm just happy that my parents exhibited none of the disturbing qualities that you, as a community, have put on display: they are tolerant, fair-minded, understanding individuals that (hopefully) have instilled such qualities in me. |

Thank you JSteele for exhibiting the sort of childishness that characterize these fora. And this coming from a site administrator, presumably a parent his/herself... |
Not only a parent, but someone who actually knows DCUM beyond a single newspaper article. If you spent a bit more time here, you would find a great number of caring, emphatic, and supportive people. You would find a place to which you could turn in your darkest moments. When there is nobody else with whom you could talk, you could find someone here. You don't know any of that, yet presume to judge. So, childishness is what you get. If you want to be recognized for your tolerance, fair-mindedness, and understanding, you probably shouldn't spend several paragraphs trashing a group of people about whom you know nothing beyond preconceived notions. Doing so often provokes childishness. |
Mr. Steele---
Do not feed the trolls. ![]() |

Hahahahahah! Did you read your post after you wrote it? Do you realize you sound just like all the nasty posters on this site? My dear, you fit right in with DCUM! Mwahahahaha! ![]() |

Oh, get over yourself. This forum is perfect for meeting your shadow self and the shadow selves of others-- it's what I love about it. Stop repressing your shadow before you go really truly awol and hurt somebody. |
OP- Your post is rife with the emphatic one dimensionality of youthful inexperience. DCUM is symptomatic of the dark, paradoxical inner core of adulthood, ironically. The child self, the all powerful narcissistic shadows you see darting around on this forum are base, even frightening and hurtful at times. But there is a lot of unsolicited generosity offered up with no possible motivation other than a pure desire to help and support others. You could not possibly glean that in a short sampling of the site. It is a conclusion that would take patience and commitment to the community--just the sort of spirit you'd like to see in the best parents, by the way. You may find that parenting is not so black or white or good or bad as you think once your are in the midst of it.
And seriously, check back in a decade or so, when you have gotten over yourself a bit. |
Wow OP, you must be really proud of yourself for coming up with DSCUM. How did you get to be so clever? I mean, clever enough to judge an entire community by one sensational article, instead of taking the time to actually explore the site? |
Thanks OP. I had a lot of advice and tips for parents too when I was single. It was so easy to raise children back then. |
![]() ![]() OP sounds like the nanny I fired because she wouldn't clean the gutters. Or maybe a disgruntled Sidwell grad. |
Team Jeff! |
OK, I didn't read the entire article, but I got the gist of it. It was hilarious!! Thanx for sharing. And, OP, you take things waaaaaay tooooo seriously!! |
