Neurotic or Normal?

My belly is the same size now (27 weeks) as it was at 22 weeks. People have even remarked that I don't look pregnant anymore, which completely freaks me out.

The baby moves every day, not crazy amounts, but enough for me to know she is alive in there. Did anyone else basically stop expanding, and then pick back up in the seventh month? I just feel as if I should be growing more.

I think it just depends on your body and it varies from person to person. When I was 22 weeks, people told me I did not look like I was that far along. Now that I am 28 weeks, I feel like I look like I could deliver tomorrow. I feel like I already look a lot bigger than a friend of mine looked at 39 weeks. It just depends! As long as you are having regular prenatal appointments, I am sure that you are fine. Your doctor monitors your measurements at this stage so if s/he isn't concerned, neither should you be.

Also, do you have any pictures of yourself at 22 weeks? I bet if you looked at a picture of yourself at 22 weeks and a picture of yourself now, you could tell that you have grown. Maybe it's just been gradual enough that you have stopped noticing?

My stomach hasn't changed much since the early 20s to now, at 30 weeks. The baby is measuring a week or two ahead now as it was at 20 weeks, so everything seems to be in order! Discuss it with your OB but I think you'll find it's just lucky.

Op here- These are reassuring posts. Thanks ladies.

With my first pregnancy, people would always say to me "You are so small!" and "You can't even tell you are pregnant!" almost up until the end and it used to freak me out. My baby was also not a mover. He was born full term at 7 lbs. 5 oz. Unfortunately, with my second I did not get those comments anymore since you could tell so much earlier and I got so much bigger with him!

Has the doctor measured your stomach yet? I think mine started at 24 or 28 weeks. They measure you and (I think, I don't remember) your belly should be the same amount in centimeters as you are in weeks? It's pretty inexact but it does give them an idea...All I know for sure is that if they are concerned at all they will order a sonogram. I was measuring a few weeks behind and had one at 31 weeks. It just showed that all was fine and was very reassuring. Try not to worry, your doctor would let you know if there was cause to do so! Good luck.

This is the PP again...I forgot to mention that height can really play into it as well. I'm 5'11" and never looked that pregnant. A few days before my due date people guessed I was 5-6 months. A long torso gives the baby room to stretch out lengthwise, so you're likely not to have as much outward growth.

your baby could have just changed positions and is transverse now - sideways...can make you look around the same. don't worry

Also, speaking of changing positions, my DS did this, wherein he flipped in a way where his arms/legs were in the front of me. (So, like I'm spooning him - I know, ridiculous way to describe it, but the only way I can think of!). So we're both facing outward, and the "big" parts of him, i.e., rounded back, butt, head, were all towards the middle of my body, so I looked flatter, if that makes sense. He stayed that way for a long time, whereas they are normally the other way around. That DEF contributed to looking smaller...

Also you may have grown "out" at first and then your hips/body itself may have widened an inch or two to accomodate sideways instead of outwards!

This is called a posterior position, and can impact how big your belly appears.
