Drive-through coffee?

Why aren't there any drive-through Starbucks in this area? There's one in Takoma Park but that's not near me. I didn't used to understand drive-throughs, thinking -- how hard is it to walk into the store, but now that i have a toddler & baby, its a whole new ballgame to schlep everyone out of the car in the cold. Has anyone tried McDonalds' lattes, and are they any good? Will they make them with decaf and skim milk?

I am so with you. My first was a car napper, and I live in DC but have actually driven out to the drive thru in Falls Church for just that reason.

As for McDs, haven't tried it, but I don't think they're that expensive, so can't hurt to just give it a try!

I have driven all the way to Germantown to get coffee from the drive-through at Starbucks. Where is the one in Takoma Park????

I LOVE mochas and tried the McDonald one a few months ago. BLECH. I threw it out. It tasted very chemically (and this is coming from someone who will eat most anything/anywhere.)

i agree. was desperate for one when my son was little and was a car sleeper...
tried the burger king on connecticut once or twice when i was desperate...but would much prefer starbucks.

Love our Starbucks drive-through. I'm out in PW county so nowhere near anyone else on here, I'm sure, but it's my savior when I have three kids in the car.

There's one at Columbia Pike and Lincolnia in Alexandria.

The only SB drive throughs I know of are in Herndon and Masassas.

Go to the Starbucks website store locator feature and click on drive-throughs. There are like 5 in our entire DC-MD-VA area. Its just clearly not their business model. I'll try the McDs -- you're right, for $2 or whatever it costs, its not a very high-risk proposition. (I just don't want them to laugh at me when I order my decaf skim latte, and say, "whaddya think this is, lady? Starbucks?")

I love McDonalds iced coffee and the caramel mochas. But I'm far from a coffee snob, so maybe they really suck and I just like the fact that they're really sweet and cheap.

There's a Starbucks drive through in Gaithersburg, on Muddy Branch Rd (I think).

OP, I dont' know where you are, but there's a drive through starbucks in college park, right off the beltway, in the shopping plaza where home depot, mama lucia, and shoppers warehouse is. It was my saving grace with both my kids.

I don't think the McD's lattes are bad. They will make the lattes (iced and non-iced) with skim milk, but not the iced coffee. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't come in large!

There's a drive-thru Starbucks in College Park and Burtonsville on the MD side. And that one in Gaithersburg.

There is also a drive thru Dunkin Donuts in Capitol Heights, MD right off of exit 15B on the beltway. But I highly doubt any of you folks are going to be in that area.
