Veinous Closure Procedure

Anonymous

How bad were your leg veins before having this procedure? Was it looking for relief of the painful aching of veins or just cosmetic that made your decision??? If my problem is 75% cosmetic should I just do the injections? At what level of severity do the injections no longer give good cosmetic results?

The doc will be able to tell you. I'm having the closure done in February. Mine are bad, though. They stop counting the reflux at a certain number of seconds when they are doing the ultrasound to examine them. My reflux went beyond that number of seconds -- in both legs. I also have an extra vein, which complicates things. I can't wait to get it done. I have lots of pain in my legs that is getting progressively worse and they are REALLY ugly. No one even discussed the injections except as an after treatment if the closure doesn't make the bulging veins go away completely.

I had the injections done and it definitely didn't work. My veins were fairly bad and "heavy" more than painful with each pregnancy. But they felt better postpartum and looked fine...no bulging veins, but lots of spider veins with blue/purlpe across my legs. So I'd say mine was mostly cosmetic, although I told them it was painful (so insurance covers it). I had significant reflux on ultrasound (don't know anything about the seconds). And my mother's legs were horrible! So I wanted to try to prevent all the spider veins from getting a ton worse. So I've done injections and laser and neither work if you have reflux..they all come back.
