For Alex Pretti — From a Physician, For a Nurse

Every physician knows this: we do not save lives alone. We do it arm in arm with nurses. With ICU nurses. With the ones who catch what we miss, who speak up, who stay late, who hold families together when the medicine runs out.

Alex Pretti was that nurse. He chose to serve his country throughout his life, working in the ICU at the VA, serving veterans, serving those who had already given everything. He stood at bedsides where courage is quiet and exhaustion is constant, where nurses don’t get headlines — they get blood on their shoes and families in their arms.

Ask any doctor who worked with him and they will tell you: he protected. He taught. He defended women colleagues. He bought coffee for broken interns. He made the ICU more human. That is what great nurses do. They don’t just carry out orders. They carry the unit.

And then, one last time, he served as a nurse outside the hospital. With a camera in his hand. With his conscience in front of him. He stepped toward someone being harmed — not as a threat, not as a protester looking for chaos, but as a healer responding to suffering: the same reflex that defines this profession. His gun was legally holstered. His hands were occupied filming. His instinct was the same one every ICU nurse knows: see harm, step in, protect.

As physicians, we talk about teams, about trust, about partnership. Alex was the kind of nurse every doctor hopes to have when things go bad: the one who has your back, the one who has the patient’s back, the one who never looks away.

We didn’t just lose a man. We lost a nurse. A protector. A healer. And the hardest truth of all: he spent his life running toward danger for others — and in the end, that is what killed him.

Rest in power, Alex Pretti. Medicine and humanity will feel your absence.

Yeah, no. Sorry that your narrative about him stinks like Norovirus diarrhea.

You disproved nothing.

Not talking to you, peanuts. Go piss on graves somewhere else.

Minnesota National Guard has showed up:

Safety.

Security.

Help.

Thank you, Minnesota National Guard!

True Americans.

Trump and Noem are burning through both money and political capital to give the best training videos possible on how to make resistance against ICE work. Chicago figured out a lot that they taught Minneapolis. THIS above is how you bring out your National Guard to provide security and safety -- reflective vests, cups of hot cocoa.

Where are you going to try to blow things up next, ICE? What else are they going to learn from Minneapolis?

That is exactly what happened. But the left (who knows nothing about guns) wont accept it.

Who are you to say so definitively that that is what happened? The "Left" isn't "accepting" it because it's not even the story coming from the administration. According to them, he got shot because he was a violent terrorist who was brandishing a gun and planning to attack agents.

They are lying, and you are trying to give them cover by concocting an excuse that sounds reasonable. The issue with your version of things is that even if true, if doesn't justify or explain why they were beating and pistol whipping him in the first place, why they shot him in the back, and why they continued to shoot his obviously lifeless body. It doesn't explain why they tried to keep local police from containing and preserving the scene. It doesn't explain why they detained all the witnesses following the incident and tried to confiscate their phones.

There is no justification for this. It is indefensible. The ONLY response that will make sense is the truth—these ICE agents abused their power, acted outside their authority, and murdered a civilian. The agents in question have been suspended pending an investigation and the department does not endorse the behavior seen on the videos.

But this administration is incapable of taking responsibility. The violence is the point.

Senator Pete Ricketts supports the fascist occupation of cities by unskilled thugs who shoot when they hear a squirrel fart. Got it.

Republicans are always happy to sacrifice other people for their perceived safety.

He is a red state senator from Nebraska, his spot isn’t even at risk unless he thinks it has become that bad of a situation.

We need to make that spot at risk during re-election vote counts, then.

The last three polls have shown him in a statistical tie with a Bernie type running as an independent. The last sentence is notable - “I expect a prioritized, transparent investigation into this incident.”

So allegedly Pretti's murderer is some MAGA leader named Evan A. Kilgore.

Just goes to show who ICE is hiring.

I saw a quote by someone that describes this perfectly:

“Yes, liberals have guns too. You don’t hear much about it because we treat our guns the same way Republicans treat abortions. We have them, but we just don’t talk about them.“

Absolutely, liberals have guns. I own many. My target practice recently involves the use of red hats set up down range.

Let's be clear: the only thing Pretti pointed at them was a camera. Which they obviously find very threatening.

JD Vance’s take is just whining about ice agents getting harassed at lunch and local police showing up to help. He also claims that the left creates these tragedies for political points. Very much “look what you made me do” mentality.

He is one of the most at-risk Senators this election. There is a populat independent, Dan Osbourne, running against him.

The only part of the primary shooter I’ve seen (his eyes) looks absolutely nothing like this guy.
