At 39 weeks, my blood pressure went from 110-118/60s-70 (during my whole pregnancy) to 130s / 80s. No swelling, no headaches, no vision changes, no protein in the urine, 2 sets of lab work determined I'm not pre-eclamptic. My due date was yesterday. My BP in the OB office yesterday was 130/82 and 124/86 earlier in the week. They didn't seem too concerned. I go back on 5/20 to get it checked again. I'm scheduled to be induced in 1 week. Has anyone else had the experience of their blood pressure significantly rising at the very end of pregnancy? The doctor reassured me, but of course I'm stressing because I know elevated blood pressure affects the oxygen / blood flow to the baby and fetal growth. |
I am really surprised they didn't err on the side of caution and tell you they were going to take the baby now.... why wait for another sign to appear?? |
I forgot to mention in my original post that they had me go to Labor & Delivery 1 week ago to have my blood pressure monitored for 2 hours and it was normal. The baby was on the monitor and looked great. |
Something similar happened to me, only my blood pressure was much higher than yours. Because I was scheduled to be induced 5 days latter they decided to admit me for the induction. I would recommend that you bring your hospital bag with you on 5/20 just in case they decide to admit you. |
I did have something very similar happen. I have traditionally low blood pressure and it went up to the high 120s/70s at 40 weeks. Also no other changes - no swelling, baby moving well, etc. By asking me some questions they decided everything was fine but were going to have me do a stress test (is this what it is called?) at 41 weeks but we induced at 41. I believe your numbers are still in the normal range which is why they are leaving it. |
In all three of my pregnancies, my diastolic BP went up, but I had no other symptoms and no other problems. I was also monitored heavily, etc. It went back down right after I gave birth. |
