I'm living overseas on a diplomatic tour with the government. My liscense is expiring next week but because my address has changed (to a US-based overseas address) I have to go to the DMV in person. Otherwise I could renew online
Has anyone else dealt with this or have suggestions? |
| I have a family member who's gone through this and it's a pain. Unfortunately, there's no other option -- you'll need to appear in person. Put it on your list of things to do during your next Stateside visit. |
| Did you change your address before you moved? Will they not send it to your new address? |
| I would contact them to see what you can do from afar (they may allow you to renew via fax or snail mail if accompanied by a copy of your orders and your diplomatic passport.) |
I say this because they required us to appear in person to present documentation when we put in our change of address (whereupon they canceled our licenses), but since we were overseas, they allowed us to submit the copies I mentioned above in lieu of appearing in person. |
| Look at their website. It can be done. Dh did it but does not remember how now. |
