teacher salary differences

Anonymous
Does anybody know what the current salary differences are between PG, Howard, and Montgomery county public schools?

I don't offhand, but it used to be that districts had their compensation tables posted on their websites so you could look up by education level and length of tenure and compare. I would guess this info is still posted online under Careers or HR for each of the districts. Good luck.

General information was in the Washington Post (I believe yesterday???) Might be able to check websites or teacher union sites for salary schedules. Teachers are paid based on experience and education.

Gazette.net has a partially working salary database for Frederick, MoCo, and PG count governments, including schools. but just go to each county website and look for the salary schedule.

I don't know the difference off hand but I looked into it some years back and PG county pays the worst by far. Not surprising. . .

Thanks for the information. I looked at the Gazette.net link for this data base (since this seemed the closest to a lead I could follow) but couldn't find it. Do you have a direct url for this data base?

Our cost of living is a lot lower here, too.

MoCo has a posting on their website. You may have to hunt for it, but it's there.

As far as housing, maybe. But groceries, transportation, energy bills, I don't think it's that much lower.

Also, one can easily live in PG and teach in Mont or howard. then you have the best of both

Well, you might be right about that. I just know that I've been able to be a SAHM for 9 years here, in a 4 BR house, on my husband's salary of 90K a year, which seems to be really hard to do in Fairfax and Mongomery Counties.
