Finally convinced my husband that hiring twice-monthly housecleaners will save my sanity. They start Monday, and I could not be happier. Now I realize that I have no idea if I'm supposed to tip him/her/them, how much, etc. Advice please! Thanks.
No - you pay them the stated amount. We give our housecleaner a bonus at Christmas, and also pay SS and unemployment.
I give a bonus at the holidays, in cash, directly to my housecleaner. She works for a service so I make a check out to the service when she cleans.
I don't tip and I don't know anyone who does. I've only heard of it on here.

Apparently (from all the research I tried to do) no tip is expected if you hire a service since the team of cleaners who actually cleans your house could vary week to week. I've got a service, and it's almost always the same two women, so I tip the cost of one cleaning to the two women at Christmas time. Never on a weekly basis.
