Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible to NOT miss your period and still be pregnant? It's weird because I feel queasey and yucky but then woke up with my period. I had a miscarriage at 15 weeks and had a D&C. We waited and tried again. I took the test last night and then poof, this morning I woke up with my period, right on time. I'd only be 3-5 weeks pregnant so I am not sure if I should bother calling the dr or just wait to see what happens. Has anyone else had an experience like this, getting a period but still being pregnant that first month? |
I was having my periods and then found out I was already 13 weeks pregnant. It can happen, I say that a pregnancy test picks up on the littlest pregnancy hormone so I would definately call the docter and have a bloodtest done. Bleeding in the beginning of your pregnancy does occur. A few years ago I experienced a miscarriage without knowing I was pregnant. They draw my blood for an entirely other reason but I was then told I was pregnant (although I did have my period). When I went in to see the doctor he took some more bloodtests and my pregnancy hormonelevel was dropping meaning that one period had been a miscarriage. I hope this is not the case with you but it could be a possibility. Please have it checked by your doctor so you will know for sure what is going in.
Best of luck to you!! |
first, sorry about your m/c at 15 weeks. that is very hard.
definitely go to the dr. to get a hcg quantitative test. you want to have your entire preg history on record. g-d forbid you have another loss, you want the dr to take you seriously asap. some in the med community seem to think that 1 m/c is no big deal, and they only pay real attention to you once you've had 2 or more. (sorry if this is so negative but i'm speaking from experience). |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your "period" could be implantation bleeding and you are pregnanct, or the positive HCG could be leftover HCG from your loss (I can't tell how long ago it was from your post). |
OP here, I lost my baby back in February and had gotten the go ahead to try again. My last period was on 4/17 so I am a few days early to have a period but it is def heavy bleeding. Darker blood, not too bright but not brown. Not to crampy like I usually am. The dr's office will see me to take blood but not for an appt.
I am not sure how soon morning sickness begins but I was really feeling icky and sick. |
I am sorry about your mc.
I had no idea that I was pregnant because I had two periods, right on time, just a lot lighter than usual and no bright red blood. I also had no m/s or other symptoms of being pregnant. I actually took a test because I was worried about my lighter periods and thought it was stress related (my grandfather had just passed and I was having inter-office problems), so I wanted one less thing to stress about. It was positive. I couldn't believe it because I had been so careful. So I did some research - there are no false-positives, just occasionally false-negatives. Congratulations! You are pregnant. |
I disagree with the PP. Yes, it is possible that you are pregnant. It is also possible you were pregnant with twins and maybe lost one. Its also possible to have a positive pregnancy test but then miscarry. It takes a few days for your HCG to go back to normal. I had a positive pregnancy test the day I miscarried. Hopefully you are pregnant and are not miscarrying. |
Not to be another doom and gloomer but you also have to worry about ectopic pregnancy...you would still have a positive but may also have bleeding and/or pain. Go get your HCG checked and then they can see from the level if it is a normal level for pregnancy, etc. Good luck. |
Not to be pessimistic, but you might be having a "chemical" pregnancy. I've had a few. you can google the term to see what it means. Best thing to do is get blood tests from doc....at least two to see what the numbers are doing.
Sorry! |
I had bleeding the day my period was supposed to start. It was like day one bleeding but went away that evening. I had already tested positive and was freaking out. My doc explained that the lining of the uterus builds every month and that a tiny embryo only needs a very small part. The rest is usually absorbed by the body, but can sometimes make it out.
I am almost 9 weeks now and all seems to be well. You should have your hcg levels checked 48 hrs apart. |
I bled during pregnancy twice at around the same time I would have otherwise had my period.
The first time it was very light bleeding at 5 wks, but it was a miscarriage. However, it took several more weeks to confirm it was a miscarriage (when they did not find a heartbeat at 7 weeks) as my hcg level was high for several weeks (turned out I miscarried twins and so my hcg was double and so took longer to decline -- even the day of my D&C I was still registering as pregnant and they did an ultrasound to confirm I was not.) I did have a lot of cramping -- way more than a regular period. The second time it was a healthy pregnancy and in hindsight must have been implantation bleeding. I had no cramping and the period went away after about 24 hours and I thought, hmmm, maybe I'm pregnant and I was. |
