I wish Virginia had a problem where the top tax rate was raised to 5%. That would be an improvement. |
Really. After that "huge" increase, the Illinois income tax is only 5%. I pay 8.5% on the bulk of my income in DC. I'd love to able to complain about a 5% income tax rate. |
Exactly who was crippled by this? |
Illinois will lose population and business from this and will lead to more powerful red states. Everything is going to plan!!! |
Dr. Evil's idiot brother got lost on the way home again. Can someone pick him up? |
Once upon a time, USPS increased postage by100% -- that's right, they doubled the cost of a postcard. It's amazing that all Republicans did not move to Canada. But they managed to weather the penny postcard going to two cents, and Illinois will survive this massive 5% tax. |
Maybe Illinois will survive like USPS.. I hope so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0QX-sTldu8 |
USPS is a good deal for us. A. The USPS is funded by postage, not by taxes. B. Private corporations actually subsidize the cost of regular mail for you and me because the direct marketing mail is highly profitable for them. C. There are private alternatives to USPS. You can always choose another carrier if you don't like them. D. They are facing declines in usage due to the digital age. And yet they are still running, even though the digital transition has killed whole industries. If anything, I have sympathy for them because if they were a truly private company, they would be allowed to cut saturday delivery to lower costs, or to cut out unprofitable markets. They haven't been allowed to do either. But if you think the private sector can do better, then ask yourself how much Fedex would charge you to send a postcard or one page letter to San Francisco. You can bet your bottom dollar that it would cost more than a dollar. |
Why would you wish VA had a problem? I don't understand. |
Because our tax rate is already higher than the "crippling tax hike" the poster is so jacked up about. |
