We have out of town guests coming in and plan to meet them near the Kettler Iceplex for breakfast... any suggestions on a diner/restaurant that is easy t get to and close to the iceplex?

Well, there's an IHOP. There are also some hotels around - a Westin a block away and a Hilton near the metro that probably have breakfast. There's the Ballston Mall food court as well, that is attached the iceplex.

IHOP is walking distance (its on Wilson Blvd, between the metro and Carpool.

The Silver Diner is down further on Wilson - but not more than a mile. It may be technically on a different road, its on that weird intersection in Clarendon where Wilson splits into Clarendon Blvd and Wilson Blvd and intersects with Wash. Blvd (and maybe another road).

The Metro 29 diner is on Lee Highway - a couple miles away. Not walkable, but an easy drive. Good food - if you like volume, but definetly higher price than IHOP - and I think higher priced than Silver Diner. I wish they serve less volume and lower the prices.

Keep in mind that the IHOP is pretty small and can get very crowded. Our go to place is Silver Diner - our kids love it and I think the food is pretty good, too. Metro 29 is a lot more expensive and also gets very crowded later in the morning.

Two Chefs is also about a mile down Wilson Blvd. at the intersection with George Mason Drive - a smaller, family run place, but the food is decent.

The Front Page opens at 10am on Saturdays and is right at the Ballston Mall.

IHOP is really hard to get into because it is so small. There is a Panera in the mall. If you are looking for a diner, I would recommend going down a little bit and go to the Silver Diner that someone else also mentioned.
