Clearblue "smiley face" OPK

Anonymous
I started using this OPK around CD 10 this month. Today is CD 17 and still no positive. I've been testing twice a day. Anyone never get a positive but was ovulating?

Keep testing. I even tested up to 3 times a day once and finally got a positive on CD 23 at 11 pm. Also, look at the lines inside the test stick and see if the non control line gets any darker. My nurse at SG told me that some women don't build up enough LH hormone to get the smiley face but the darker line will indicate some level of LH hormone.

I read sometimes LH surge happens so quickly that the OPK doesn't pick it up. Therefore, many doctors suggest having sex every other day from day 8-10 irregardless of your OPK results. I would suggest using Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor as it tests for both estrogen and LH rise in your urine, so it's more accurate. Good luck!

I don't know what the sensitivity level is for the Clearblue Digital OPK, but they don't work for me. I never got a positive with them on a critical cycle this past summer when I was supposed to start meds post ovulation. I had b/w done to confirm ovulation (I very definitely had ovulated) when I did not have my surge by cd 16 (I always ovulate by cd13-14).

I tried using them again recently and was smart enough to test with other sticks at the same time. My early-pregnancy-tests.com tests seem to be the most reliable for me. They always show a positive and I have had monitoring done to do a trigger shot using them - LH level is usually in the high 20s - and even when CB Digital doesn't. And, First Response 20 packs are the WORST!! I never got anything faintly resembling a surge - the test line basically got slightly darker close to surge and stayed that way. At least the CB stick showed darker lines that appeared + and cheapie definitely confirmed surge. The FR 20 pack is complete crap and I wouldn't waste my money. They say you have to use them within 30 days (they are not individually wrapped and are in one big bag) and they didn't even work within 10 days.

All that said, my advice is to try a couple of different brands of tests in a given month to see which one(s) work best for you and your body, as it seems different tests work better for different people.

Like the PP, I use a combination - I use the Clear Blue Easy Digital Monitor - then I also use the CBE smiley face ones (but only sparingly because they are so expensive) - and I order the wondfo brand off of ebay - beyond cheap and seem to be very reliable.
