Just starting to think about summer camp. Any suggestions? We're looking for camps for a 3yo (just turning 3) and a 5.5yo. Both girls. The thing is that our nanny doesn't drive, so the camps need to be easy to get to by public transportation from NW DC. (We live right by the Tenleytown metro on the red line.) Our girls hate sports and both love music, theater, art, science, etc.
Help! Thanks so much. |

St columba. or whatever nursery school you looking at. did you search the camp board - lots of discussion.

| OP: I'm confused. Isn't this the camp board? |
| Sidwell's Explorer Day Camp is just down the street from Tenleytown Metro. Junior Explorers start with age 3 and go through Grade 1 (then Explorers begin). A fun theme based program - both my kids did it for years. Lots of arts and crafts, science, special events/guests, water play and active games. |
| CommuniKids Preschool has Spanish immersion camp for 3 to 6 year olds just a few blocks from the Tenleytown Metro on Wisconsin Ave. www.communikids.com |
| Not sure if your 3 yr old is old enough, but check out CASA at Sheridan School. |
| You can ride the bus into Georgetown and go to camp at st John's preschool. Lovely, SO nurturing. Lots of projects and outdoor time, plus 3 yo came home knowing all her letters without anyone even trying. Did it last year and DD loved it. |
Hates sports? We don't like to hear that .
There are some excellent dance, yoga, or figure skating programs in the DC area for kids who might not like traditional team and individual sports. You might also try a regular camp (particularly for the 5.5 yr old) which has some light sports mixed in. Lots of options for getting exercise and developmental opportunities without having to pick up a bat or a ball! You can register for flyburst at http://www.flyburst.com. It's free and you can search listings by age, type, location, etc. Regards, The flyburst Team |
It's great! My two kids loved it. They do a lot with music. Since you're paying for camp anyway, might as well get something unique like language immersion. |
| What about Imagination Stage or Adventure Theater? Holton's Creative Summer has a LOT of music/drama/dance/arts offerings, but I don't know if kids that young are in that part of their program. |
